Exploration Geologists

Exploration geologists determine the location and plan the extraction of coal, metallic ores, nonmetallic minerals, and building materials. Their work involves conducting preliminary surveys of deposits and planning their development. They examine deposits or mines to decide whether they can be worked at a profit and make geological and topographical surveys. Some exploration geologists evolve methods of mining best suited to character, type, and size of deposits; and supervise mining operations while offering offer technical advice to achieve economical and satisfactory progress.
