Also known as the private sector, jobs in the industry cover many different fields, including science, engineering, medicine, policy, law and business. While the term “industry” typically implies larger corporations, industry jobs can also be found in the form of self-employed entrepreneurs, start-ups, and private consultants.
Industry sector occupational qualifications will vary depending on field. Some entry level technician positions require a bachelor’s degree. Scientist positions will often require a Ph.D. in the relevant field, though management positions might only require a master’s degree.
